Asthma Canada is the only national charity solely devoted to improving the lives of Canadians living with asthma and respiratory allergies. For 47 years, we have proudly served as the voice of all Canadians affected by this chronic disease. Our mission is to help Canadians with asthma live healthy lives through education, advocacy and research. Our vision is a future without asthma.
Asthma is the third most common chronic disease in Canada affecting the lives of more than 3.8 million Canadians, 850,000 of which are children, making asthma the most common chronic disease among children. There is currently no cure for asthma, and an estimated 4 families lose a loved one to asthma each and every week in Canada. Asthma Canada is dedicated to stopping asthma from claiming lives and making our vision of a future free from this disease a reality.
With your help, Asthma Canada provides education, advocacy and research to benefit the lives of Canadians with asthma. Our goal is to support all Canadians affected by this chronic disease – patients, caregivers, families and healthcare providers, so that everyone with asthma can live a healthy, active, and symptom-free life. Together, we are stopping asthma attacks and saving lives.
Education: We empower patients by supporting vital education and support programs including our national Asthma & Allergy HelpLine service, Speaker Series Webinars and year-round educational campaigns and support services for our community.
Advocacy: We raise the voice of the asthma community through advocacy initiatives at all government levels. Advocating on important issues for our community including choice and access to medications and clean air & energy.
Research: We support the work of both Lead Investigators and Graduate Student Researchers working to expand our understanding of asthma and one day unlock a cure through our National Research Program. We are committed to supporting asthma research in Canada and provide grants for both early and late onset asthma research.
