“I came to Causeway looking for the job of a lifetime, but instead I got a life to find a job.” – Causeway Client
Causeway is a not-for-profit agency based in Ottawa that helps people with mental illness and other challenges find rewarding work and live more independently. By helping everyone reach their full potential, we are helping establish stronger and more inclusive communities.
We know that everyone is different — that’s why we offer a variety of employment programs, social enterprises and support services to serve a diverse range of people. By tailoring our approach to each client’s unique strengths, needs, and circumstances, we’re putting them in the right position to achieve their potential. Each person can take multiple avenues while on their journey, but they all lead to the same place: meaningful employment.
In Canada, 1 in 5 Canadians over 15 have one or more disabilities (StatsCan, 2018). Among those with disabilities who are not employed and not currently in school, 2 in 5 have the potential to work – that’s 645,000 Canadians (StatsCan, 2018).
Your impact through Causeway
Every year, more than 1,100 people with mental health-related barriers to employment use Causeway’s services. Each of our clients is unique: they have their own story, personal barriers, and goals. But they all want the same thing, and that’s for someone to give them a chance.
At Causeway, we believe in everyone’s potential. Our holistic approach ensures that everyone receives the support they need to develop and put forward their unique skills while searching for employment. Each one of our Avenues to Employment is crafted to lead our clients to meaningful employment opportunities. We provide pre-employment programs, an accessible gym through our Wellness program, and four entrepreneurial social enterprises which employ Causeway clients – just to name a few.
