For more than a century, the residents of North Simcoe have relied on the healthcare services of Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH); and our hospital has counted on the community for the tools to provide exceptional care. The hospital has grown from a 12-bed home in Sunnyside to a bustling healthcare facility, providing care close to home for our local and seasonal families.
A hospital is vital to the health of a community and having up to date equipment and technology is a necessity at Georgian Bay General Hospital! We also know that our government-funded healthcare system just can’t meet every need. That means we must count on each other to help provide the best possible care, retain top healthcare professionals and keep trust in our local hospital. And that’s what we do together, every day.

Our Impact
Our donors have supported incredible development at GBGH. The new state-of-the-art Emergency Department has doubled in size and includes new trauma, treatment and specialized (gynecology and ophthalmology) examination rooms, a new triage area, new waiting area and an indoor ambulance bay. The new CT Scanner arrived in 2018 which enables our residents to stay in our community to get this vital diagnostic testing.
Every year over 40,000 patients come to GBGH for emergency medical care, and the number continues to grow. GBGH is the community hospital for over 65,000 local residents and in the summer months swells to a population of over 250,000.
