Golf Canada Foundation’s mission is to inspire young players to build strong core values and character while living a healthy lifestyle. As a registered Canadian Amateur Association, the Foundation delivers a mandate to raise and grant funds for the advancement of golf in Canada by funding grassroots programming like the First Tee, awarding scholarships to Canadian student golfers, and distributing grants to support initiatives that fall into five key areas: Junior Golf, Collegiate Golf, Women’s Golf High Performance Golf, Golf Heritage.
“I accept these funds with unending gratitude as they will allow me to continue to play the game I love and complete my legal degree with a lessened financial burden.”
– Laura DeMarco – 2020 Marlene Streit Scholarship winner
Golf Canada Foundation continues to gain momentum in all areas from grassroots programming through to our high-performance teams. More Canadians are playing on major professional tours and more kids than ever are picking up clubs through introductory programs. Golf Canada Foundation has granted over $10.3 million to the sport, funding programs that reduce the barriers of entry to golf, like First Tee – Canada, and through subsidized rounds and $5 green fees to juniors through Youth on Course programming . On average, Golf Canada junior initiatives reach approximately 135,000 kids annually, who are inspired by the performance of our Young Pro players winning on the major tours. Since 2014, Foundation-supported Young Pros have logged 47 wins worldwide across seven professional tours. The Foundation also disburses more than $185,000 per year in grants to collegiate athletes and institutions through matching programs.
How your gift will be used
We believe a lasting legacy would first fund First Tee grassroots junior programming to ensure kids build strong core values and character while living a healthy lifestyle. And second, a legacy would fund Team Canada to ensure kids are inspired by their heroes to take up a life-long sport and ultimately pursue their dreams whether in golf or in life.
