About
Hamilton Community Foundation works towards a vibrant, diverse and inclusive Hamilton by connecting people, ideas and resources. We drive positive change in Hamilton by helping people give in a way that has meaning to them and impact in the community.
Hamilton Community Foundation is unique from other charities because donors may support any area of charitable interest including arts and culture, education, health and human services, environment and recreation. Donations are pooled and carefully invested for both financial and social return. Investment income is the primary source for grants and community leadership. HCF grants across all sectors, leads strategic change on critical local issues, and gives loans to local charities. As an endowment organization, your legacy gift can live on to support the areas you care about now, and forever.

Our Impact
Hamilton Community Foundation helps donors create the legacy they want and is a catalyst for change in the community. We offer donors powerful and diverse opportunities to drive positive change. We are unique in that we enable donors to recommend grants to the widest possible range of charitable organizations and initiatives. In our 2021-22 fiscal year, Hamilton Community Foundation made 918 grants and community leadership projects to 344 organizations, totaling $13.6 million. We believe that by increasing the capabilities and resilience of individuals, groups and organizations, we will strengthen our community.
The Foundation is unique in that we also use our endowed funds to provide loans and investments to charitable organizations and initiatives. In 2021-22, HCF provided $11.9 million in loans to local charities and not-for-profits. These “impact investments” enable donors to drive positive change beyond granting: they represent investments of capital that deliver financial returns coupled with positive social and/or environmental outcomes.
