Kerr Street Mission

About Kerr Street Mission

Kerr Street Mission (KSM) is a registered charity that has been providing essential help for the Oakville community for over 25 years.

Our Mission is to provide care and a community of support for those that are struggling to make ends meet, improving their current and future well being.

Working with volunteers and community partners, Kerr Street Mission has become a hub of care that offers programs to develop and support individuals and families in need to improve and change their situation.

Kerr Street Mission is not defined by the programs offered, but rather by the people it services. In an effort to ensure that individuals and families in distress get the support and help they need, KSM has initiated and organized the Neighbour Care Network (NCN). The goal of NCN is to connect individuals or families in distress to volunteers from local churches that can walk alongside and help them to identify, access, and benefit from the programs and services in the community. Providing encouragement, support and accountability along the journey results in participants making more progress and leads to better results.

Our Impact

The KSM Food Services ensures over 650+ people each week have access to healthy food options. Through our Food Market and Community Delivery program over 10,000 pounds of food is distributed each month with 38% being fresh perishable products.

Our Summer Programming ensures that each week of summer, 100+ children and youth experience the joys of summer programs. In addition, older youth have the opportunity to develop skills and give back to their community through the KSM Leadership in Training Program.

KSM’s Christmas program ensures that 1700+ people will be able to celebrate at Christmas. A generous gift card program gives parents the opportunity to choose the food and gifts their families desire. New toys and pyjamas are also provided for all the children.

How your gift will be used

When you leave a legacy gift you can designate it to a specific program area (Children and Youth Development, Family Care, Food Services or Neighbour Care Network). Your gift will be used to provide practical help and hope for a better future for those that have found themselves in need.

You can also choose to designate it to one of Kerr Street Mission’s sustainability funds: the Reserve fund or the Capital fund. These funds have been set-up to ensure that KSM is strong financially, that the KSM Dream Centre is maintained as required and that KSM will be able to continue to serve the community for many years to come.
