Niagara College Canada

About Niagara College Canada

Our Vision: Enriching lives and fulfilling dreams.

Our Mission: Providing outstanding applied learning for a changing world.

Since its inception over 50 years ago, Niagara College has grown to become a leader in applied, experiential learning. We offer more than 130 diploma, graduate certificate, apprenticeship, and bachelor’s degree programs that respond to key economic sectors in our region. These include advanced technology, skilled trades, applied health, community safety, digital and interactive media, food and beverage sciences, business, hospitality and tourism, and environment and horticulture.

Each year, we serve more than 10,000 full-time students, including over 4,500 international students from more than 90 countries. Thousands of other students participate in part-time studies in our 500 credit, vocational and continuing education courses.

We take pride in creating work-ready and world-ready graduates, up-skilling the existing workforce, and fostering innovation and entrepreneurship to prepare students for in-demand jobs. Our programs immerse students within a highly experiential learning environment and offer a wide range of opportunities to develop cultural and global competencies. Over the past decade, the College has implemented a strategy to increase international recruitment, which has diversified our student population and expanded opportunities for study-work abroad, preparing our students to become ‘world-ready’.

Niagara College has also made research and innovation a key priority. Through three innovation centres, specializing in advanced manufacturing, precision agriculture, and the food and beverage sector, we support regional economic development by assisting small- and medium-sized businesses while helping students gain experience to maximize employment opportunities.

Our Impact

Education has the power to transform lives. For more than 50 years, Niagara College has been providing students with the skills they need to build successful lives and communities.

Students come to Niagara College with goals, aspirations and dreams and we take great pride in the role we play in helping them improve their lives and provide for their families. We educate students for in-demand jobs, helping increase their employment opportunities and raising the standard of living and quality of life for thousands of people every year.

College graduates are the backbone of many occupations, skills and trades that are crucial to a strong economy – and our graduates have been building communities and contributing to the economy for more than five decades.

Niagara College is one of only two post-secondary institutions in the Niagara region, an area with a population of almost half a million. To date, we have graduated over 95,000 students, two-thirds of whom choose to stay and work in the Niagara region. Recent survey results confirm that 88% of our graduates are employed within six months of graduation and 91% of employers are satisfied with the skills and knowledge of the NC graduates they hire.

How your gift will be used

A Legacy Gift would support students by:

Funding scholarships and bursaries. For many students, the financial challenge is the greatest barrier to college success. Many work part-time or full-time while completing their studies. An increasing number have responsibility for one or more dependents. About one-third of our students are the first person in their family to pursue post-secondary education.

Helping to fund the ongoing need for new and replacement instructional equipment for our many hands-on learning labs. Access to state-of-the-art equipment is the cornerstone of successful applied education, allowing students to train on the latest advancements and technology, so they can ‘hit the ground running’ upon graduation.

Funding Be World Ready travel bursaries. Niagara College’s Be World Ready program helps prepare students for success by offering opportunities to experience culturally diverse learning environments, understand different perspectives and connect practical skills with a global mindset to help successfully launch their careers. Travel bursaries support students participating in semester exchanges, summer institutes or international field studies.

A Legacy Gift can help our students graduate ‘world-ready’ and ‘work-ready’!
