About
You can make children’s pain disappear. Parents will enjoy a full night’s sleep, first steps will be taken, and gold medals won on the field. You can be the reason Canada Shriners Hospital will be able to keep bringing the most amazing care to children needing ultra-specialized neuromusculoskeletal treatment, regardless of its cost.
World leader in care and research for osteogenesis imperfecta (brittle bone disease) we are the place to be treated for rare bone diseases and conditions such as scoliosis, limb deformities, clubfeet, hip dysplasia and spasticity associated with arthorgryposis and cerebral palsy. When others no longer know how to help, we step in, offering Health Care as it Should Be.
Since its foundation in 1925 in Montreal, thanks to the generosity of donors, and in particular, the Shriners Fraternity, Canada Shriners Hospital has been changing the lives of young patients.
Today, we are a private hospital, operating within, and partially funded by, the Québec healthcare system since the 1970s. We treat children from across the country and around the world at no cost to their loved ones. While the Government funds physician salaries and care, everything else is paid through generous donations from people like you. This includes things like clinical and surgical equipment, building maintenance, and everything that touches our state-of-the-art research. In 2022, we raised 12 million dollars to help us reach our goals.
Thanks to donors and the Shriners fraternity, patients’ and parents’ accommodations and travel are completely covered. When orthotics, prosthetics, special wheelchairs, braces, or car seats are needed Canada Shriners Hospital covers them, ensuring that its patients have the ideal equipment they need, regardless of its cost.

Our Impact
At Canada Shriners Hospital, we create “Shriners Magic” with our Wrap Around Care. This patient and family-centered approach makes our hospital a very special place, it almost makes it feel like a family and a home. Here are some of the things we do that set us apart:
- Utilizing our Motion Analysis Laboratory for actual clinical care and not just research: we are one of only two in the country to do that. Used in pre-op and post-op care, the lab helps diagnose with precision, plan detailed surgeries and monitor healing and rehabilitation.
- Lowering narcotics use and getting patients back home in 2 days rather than a week. This is why we implemented Cryoablation a year ago in our chest wall anomaly surgeries.
- A 1:4 nurse-patient ratio, offering more care and attention to our patients. This ratio allows us to not just treat but anticipate, to not just alleviate pain but to create an environment in which a patient will strive and heal faster.
- Concierge service: coordinating travel with our drivers covering some 20,000 km per year, arranging hotel stays, ensuring a child gets its preferred meals, taking stress away from parents and children.
