Since 1990, the St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Foundation has been working hard to support better healthcare for the residents of Antigonish, Guysborough, Richmond and Inverness counties by funding education, research and the purchase of enhanced medical equipment for St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in Antigonish, NS. Every donation makes a difference and every dollar counts. It helps to fund cutting edge research, innovative medical equipment, and improved access to care in our community.
St. Martha’s Regional Hospital is an acute care facility providing a range of primary and secondary services through inpatient, outpatient and satellite services.

Our Impact
For the past 30 years, the Foundation has supported St. Martha’s with the purchase of new and innovative medial equipment, helping to create new programs and services and ensuring patients can access quality care, closer to home.
In April 2020, the Foundation was ready to help support staff and physicians as they prepared and trained to fight COVID-19. In an effort to support ongoing training and education, the Foundation provided $130,000 to purchase two new high-fidelity humanoid mannequins. The mannequins will continue to support inter-professional practice reminding us all of the value simulation-based education has in lifelong learning.
Last year alone, the Foundation spent just over $890,000 on new equipment for St. Martha’s Regional Hospital including new cardiac care equipment to provide new services and tests not offered previously at St. Martha’s. This allowed patients to access the care they needed in their home community, rather than having to drive to Halifax or Sydney.
Building off the legacy of the Sisters of St. Martha, we’re working hard to ensure we are there for St. Martha’s and our community every time they need us but the need is great.
