About
Support St. Paul’s Hospital (Saskatoon) and the Hospice at Glengarda
St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation supports the growth and development of care and services offered at St. Paul’s Hospital and the Hospice at Glengarda, advancing the vision for ‘a community of health, hope, and compassion for all. Donor support brought state-of-the-art equipment, improved services and provided better patient experiences to the people of Saskatoon and Northern Saskatchewan.
St. Paul’s Hospital is responsible for providing governance and support for the following core programs in Saskatoon and the North: Mental Health and Addiction Services, Palliative and Hospice Care, and Spiritual Care, Diagnostic Imaging and Nuclear Medicine, Chronic Disease Management, Emergency and Air Ambulance Services, Kidney Health and Provincial Transplant Services, Laboratory Medicine and Ethics Services. Our Hospital is home to the Leslie and Irene Dubé Urology Centre of Health, the Saskatchewan Transplant Unit and the city’s only dedicated in-hospital 12-bed Palliative Care Unit. We deliver compassionate and holistic acute care in a teaching and applied research Hospital located in the heart of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Founded in 1907 by the Grey Nuns, St. Paul’s Hospital is a Catholic hospital that operates in partnership with the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
The Hospice at Glengarda is the first free-standing, residential Hospice in Saskatchewan. This facility and the Holistic Care programming offered was realized as a result of St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation’s remarkable $21 million Close to Home Campaign. Situated in a quiet residential neighbourhood, the Hospice hosts fifteen beds in beautiful private rooms, providing 24-hour care for people requiring full-time, hands-on care to help manage the last days or weeks of progressive illness. This delicate care is offered as an extension of Palliative Care services at no cost to the patient. The Hospice at Glengarda is owned by St. Paul’s Hospital, and supported by its Foundation.
Our Impact
“I’ve always thought hospitals perform a very important function in our society, and that’s why I put them at the top of the list for my bequests” – Mervin P. Schneider, Legacy Donor
Funds raised by St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation support urgently-needed medical equipment, holistic care services, patient comfort care items, staff professional development, and research at St. Paul’s Hospital as well as continued support for the Hospice at Glengarda. As medical advancements emerge and health care costs rise, donor generosity becomes increasingly crucial in helping to provide our health care workers with innovative solutions, advanced technology, state-of-the-art equipment, research and program development.
Since its inception in 1982, SPH Foundation has distributed more than $83,000,000 to St. Paul’s Hospital and the Hospice at Glengarda. The Hospice at Glengarda, Leslie and Irene Dubé Urology Center of Health, Healing Arts and Spiritual Care Programs, and our state-of-the-art operating theatres, which now feature the da Vinci Surgical Robot, are all vital examples of how donors’ gifts have made a difference.
