Change starts with one person, one group, one business, one community.

Supporting United Way of Saskatoon and Area creates opportunities for a better life for everyone and achieves lasting, positive change. Because it takes a whole community coming together to change social conditions, United Way of Saskatoon and Area builds partnerships that mobilize communities, agencies, funders, and other sectors to achieve shared goals. We strive to bring about genuine change by focusing by:

  • Engaging and mobilizing community dollars, influence, time, knowledge and action
  • Identifying and addressing underlying causes
  • Strengthening the network of services and capacity of human-service agencies and the community
  • Educating, raising awareness, and influencing public perceptions, systems and policy.

Our Impact

Last year, United Way of Saskatoon and Area provided funding to 36 local agencies and programs in three focus areas.


All that Kids Can Be
United Way helps kids be all that they can be by focusing on a child’s readiness for kindergarten, achieving grade-level reading, and supporting their journey toward adulthood.

  • 7,176 mentors in the school mentoring program
  • 13,591 meals and snacks were provided to 8 core neighbourhood by Saskatoon and District Labour Council’s Summer Snack Program
  • 1,000 books were distributed through Summer Success


Building Strong Communities
United Way builds strong communities by creating a barrier-free path to services and supports, and connecting people to their community.

  • 74 community members benefited from the housing first model and received a safe stable housing
  • 13,050 meals served to individuals who were experiencing homelessness
  • 87 participants received social and community reintegration services.


Moving People from Poverty to Possibility
United Way partners with agencies to support programs and services which address the root causes of poverty, build capacity, and help lift individuals and families out of poverty.

  • 5,054 hours of individual counselling were provided
  • 1,685 mental health inquiries to 211 Saskatchewan
  • 2,000 hours of social programming

United Way works year-round to address the complex needs of our community’s most vulnerable people – the children, families, and individuals who are often ignored.

Your donation will allows United Way to continue supporting our community by participating in research, advocacy, collaborative projects, education and training, and facilitate strategic partnerships in order to solve long ignored issues including, poverty, homelessness, school readiness, mental health, and social isolation.
