About
The University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF) engages and inspires people to make generous investments essential to the exceptional health care provided by Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) and Providence care. From hospital to home to community and beyond, every donation through UHKF helps fund healthcare facilities, equipment, programs, innovative research, and ongoing staff education.
There is a culture of learning and discovery across the care continuum at our academic hospitals, attracting world-class specialists. Care is available close to home that otherwise would require travel to major centres like Toronto and Ottawa.
“I made a decision to relocate to Kingston in September 2015,” says a Grateful Community Supporter. “My choice was strongly influenced by the quality of health care services in Kingston. My support to UHKF will continue in the future. This serves as my input to continue the quality of healthcare services and associated research for the future in the region.”
“Every time I’ve been to Kingston Health Sciences Centre or Providence Care Hospital, I have been amazed by both the skill and also the caring I’ve seen in every member of the staff,” says a Grateful Community Supporter.
Generous donor investments through UHKF enable the purchase life-saving equipment, fund resources to help programs such as mental health and further staff education. From providing the best possible start in life for the fragile newborns to making sure that our health care sites continue to offer specialized care in aging, mental health and rehabilitation, the UHKF donor family shows us how fortunate UHKF, KHSC and Providence Care are to have such a supportive community.
“We all appreciate the hard work and personal sacrifice that you all are making,” says a Grateful Community Supporter. “Keep up your level of work and I will commit to continue to provide financial support to UHKF.”
Our Impact
KHSC and Providence Care serve more than 500,000 people in southeastern Ontario and beyond, delivering world-class, compassionate care close to home for patients and their families.
Although the Government of Ontario provides funding, much of what our hospitals need, such as cutting-edge medical equipment, is provided by generous community donors. Donations support the purchase of life-saving equipment, patient comfort items, research and innovation as well as staff education.
“POCUS saves time, money and lives. It adds enormously to patient safety.” says Dr. Joey Newbigging, Emergency Medicine POCUS Director, KHSC. “We are extremely grateful to everyone who has contributed to the POCUS program so far. These generous donors are helping physicians save lives and give better care experiences to many other patients in the Emergency Department for years to come.”
“We’re so grateful for the valuable donations that allowed our team to attend the EVT conference,” says Karen Pearson, Director of Diagnostic Imaging, KHSC. “Without donors to support us, we wouldn’t be able to do many of the important things that we do, including EVT. We are so grateful for having such a generous local community.”
