Pacific Public Health Foundation

About

Pacific Public Health Foundation (PPHF) is the only charitable organization in BC actively fundraising for public health needs. We foster meaningful relationships with our partners and communities to support population health priorities focused on creating a responsive and resilient public health system. We envision a healthier, safer, and more equitable future for all.

We have a long history as the primary funding partner to the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC). For twenty years we have supported hundreds of projects and committed more than $22‑million in funding towards public health, including work that supports access to care and treatment for equity-deserving populations, and pivotal pilot initiatives for health protection, promotion and prevention. This is the core work of public health, which is crucial to keeping our communities safe as we adapt and respond to new and existing challenges to our health and wellness.

Our Impact

Public health is invisible—because when it’s working, crises are prevented, communities are protected, and lives are improved. You can’t see outbreaks that never happened, chronic illnesses that were avoided, or families who stayed healthy because the right supports were in place. But behind that quiet success is something powerful: people like you.

With only 7% of available funding going towards public health, PPHF steps in to fill that gap, funding innovative projects working upstream, focused on prevention, protection, and health promotion. Our project partners work directly in the field to find solutions, like testing wastewater, protecting us from health threats, and preventing or controlling the spread of disease and illness.

Our impact, and the impact of our donors, is generational. From rebuilding trust with Indigenous groups through programs like the Kloshe Nanitch medicine bundles, to taking care of future generations by funding programs that improve youth mental health, and promoting equity deserving youth entering STEM, and improving hepatitis care uptake through accessible technology, reducing healthcare costs. With our dedicated partners, we fund transformative work grounded in equity and compassion, ensuring a healthier, safer, and more equitable future for all. Help ensure that future generations can live their best lives possible.

How your gift will be used

You have the power to shape a healthier tomorrow — starting today. By leaving a legacy gift to Priorities in Public Health, you’re not just supporting a cause, you’re investing in a future where prevention, equity, and community wellbeing come first.

Your gift empowers us to engage in work that is grounded in provincial priorities and community-driven needs — ensures that public health efforts are proactive, not reactive — reaching people before challenges become crises. Supporting populations that may experience barriers to accessing social or health services due to intersecting determinants of health such as language, culture, finances, housing, geography, or education.

A well-funded and effective public health system fosters trust, improves quality of life, and safeguards future generations. Because when public health is invisible, it means it’s doing its job. And when you choose to support it, your impact becomes part of that enduring legacy. Together, we can build a system that doesn’t just react — but anticipates, supports, uplifts, and builds trust in a system designed to serve everyone.
