About Marie Phillips

Marie has worked in the financial services industry since 1992 but her experience in Philanthropy dates back even further.

Marie was on the receiving end of the giving spectrum when in 1986 she was awarded a bursary for academic achievement in Music.  This financial gift was instrumental in ensuring she was able to pursue post-secondary education. Receiving this life-changing gift inspired Marie to ensure that philanthropy was part of her core values and has found some fun and interesting ways to give back to her community.

She volunteers her time on the Board of Directors for the Hamilton All-Star Jazz Band (an organization dedicated to music and youth development) and the Westdale Theatre. Her organization initiated an annual pop up Art Show, called Work in Progress, to showcase local artists, with the HPO quartet, bringing together art across a variety of mediums. Marie  also supports the Hamilton Artists INC and the Hamilton Arts Awards.

Although she didn’t pursue a career in music, the ARTS sector is where  her philanthropy is focused. She is often heard to say that money or achieving  wealth is not a destination but merely a tool to help enrich the life of your community and loved ones.

Wealth advice is about helping individuals, families and businesses discover what’s important to them to live a life with purpose. Working with professionals in Estate & Tax planning, we can collaborate with clients and charitable organizations to establish what are the objectives and plans for today and tomorrow.

Her latest initiative is her collaboration on a book, “FS4WBW” financial services for women written by women”, published in 2020,  with all proceeds of the book to be donated to the global initiative to eradicate  Polio. Contact her for a copy.

Typical Clients

Clients of Next Steps Planning Inc understand that there is a difference between being a steward or caretaker of wealth versus being solely a consumer. They have accumulated more than enough wealth to meet the needs and wants of today’s lifestyle and are looking to make a lasting impact on their community.

They value and appreciate the professionalism of their Wealth Advisors to guide and implement their philanthropic goals, understanding that the process of taking the time to reflect and communicate on what is important to them and their families is imperative to its success.

Whether it is a one-time gift in their Estate Plan, or the desire to oversee an ongoing commitment to funding through a foundation, we can help define their legacy.
