About Robert McLean
Robert has over a decade of experience in the financial services industry with an emphasis on intergenerational wealth transfers, philanthropic legacies and holistic wealth planning. He focuses on working closely with high net worth clients, foundations and not-for-profits to help them achieve their unique financial goals. Robert understands the importance to clients of tailored solutions that complement their unique situations. His knowledge spans a wide range of asset classes, from traditional to alternative, including real estate, infrastructure, private loans, private equity and hedge strategies. Prior to joining CC&L Private Capital, Robert held roles at RBC Dominion Securities and Richardson Wealth.
Robert graduated from the University of British Columbia with a double focus degree in sciences. He has held the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation since 2014. As a vocal advocate for socially responsible investing and values-based planning, Robert is also the holder of the leading Canadian ESG certification of Responsible Investment Advisor (RIAC). Strategic philanthropy is also an important part of his practice. Having earned his Master Financial Advisor – Philanthropy (MFA-P) designation, Robert is passionate about working with clients to identify ways to make meaningful contributions to causes they care about in a strategic way.
An active fundraiser for many healthcare and arts charities, Robert has been especially involved with the BC Cancer Foundation and Nature Trust of BC. As a champion for financial literacy, Robert educates youth on money matters and fiscal responsibility. He sits as treasurer on the boards of directors of the Vancouver International Writers Festival and Adverse Drug Reaction Canada, and was a founding board member of the latter. Born and raised in Vancouver, Robert enjoys outdoors pursuits, including sailing, rock climbing and cycling. He can also often be found in his back garden, tending to his colony of honeybees.
