About
The Humane Society of Oakville, Milton & Halton (HSOMH) (legal name Oakville & Milton Humane Society) has been a trusted non-profit organization since 1936, serving pets and people across Halton Region with compassion and care. It’s a safe haven for animals in need, and more than a shelter. It’s a community hub where connection, education, and compassion come together to strengthen the human-animal bond.
At any given time, approximately 300 animals are being cared for receiving shelter, medical care, and the respect they deserve. People often walk through the doors expecting to adopt a pet, drop off a donation, or volunteer for a few hours. What they leave with is so much more: new connections, unexpected joy, and a lasting place in a community that cares deeply for pets and people alike.
Our Impact
HSOMH’s work touches thousands of lives each year, both those with four paws and two feet.
- Helps animals find adoptive families, giving every pet the chance to thrive in a loving home.
- Reunites lost pets with their families, helping loved pets find their way back home.
- Supports pet owners through essential programs like the Pet Food Bank, Families in Transition program, low-cost microchipping clinics, and care guidance to help keep pets healthy and in their homes.
- Deliver humane education and youth programs, inspiring the next generation to understand compassion and responsible pet care.
- Host community events and fundraisers that bring people and pets together while fueling the critical needs every day.
- Provides municipal animal services for the Town of Oakville, including by-law enforcement and 24/7 response for sick, injured, or at-risk animals and wildlife.
How your gift will be used
Your bequest will help secure the future of the HSOMH along with its much needed growth.
It will help ensure HSOMH can continue to provide the essential care and services that animals, and the people who love them, rely on every day. This includes providing safe shelter, nutritious food, veterinary care, and compassionate support to animals in need.
Bequests will also allow expansion of vital programs such as the Pet Food Bank and Families in Transition programs, helping pets stay with the families who love them during difficult times. Through education and outreach, this fosters compassion, respect, and understanding throughout our community.
Your thoughtfulness and generosity does more than help animals. It strengthens families and inspires empathy in every neighbourhood we serve.
Thank you, on behalf of the animals and families cared for today and those helped in the years to come.
