Statement of Purpose – Working together to inspire our community to invest in regional healthcare for the benefit of everyone.

In 1943, the community came together to establish a hospital to meet urgent medical needs and save lives after the tragic death of a child on Southampton beach.  Through Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, the community has been a vital hospital partner ever since.

The Southampton Hospital is part of Brightshores Health System, which operates 6 hospitals in the Grey Bruce region.  Residents and visitors are offered a wide range of clinical services in addition to 24/7 Emergency care.  Brightshores has 1,700 dedicated staff and more than 200 physicians who work together, delivering excellent patient care to residents and visitors.

Our Impact

In 2024/25:

  • 18,144 ER visits
  • Average age of ER patient: 44
  • 9,622 Radiology procedures
  • 378,471 Lab tests
  • 6,784 Inpatient Care Days provided
