Victoria Association for Community Living
About
On December 16, 1955, a group of dedicated parents founded what is now called Community Living Victoria (CLV). Today, as the largest non-profit community living service provider on Vancouver Island, Community Living Victoria provides a range of support services to children, youth and adults with intellectual disabilities and their families.
Our work is guided by our values, experience and history and draws from strong roots in the community. Community Living Victoria recognizes the rights of everyone to have a full range of life choices, including access to education, affordable and appropriate housing, leisure options, gainful employment and participation in the community. A healthy community encourages the involvement of everyone.
Through Family Support we provide information, resources, advocacy and support in a variety of topics that families request. We often attend planning meetings in schools, ministry offices and community. Common supports include future planning, conflict resolution, workshop organization, community development, parent support groups and inclusive education facilitation.
Employment Services supports people with intellectual disabilities to sustain rewarding and satisfying jobs with employers who want committed employees. Along with the additional income, a rewarding job tends to reduce loneliness and increase social networks, community awareness, confidence, and self-esteem.
Teen Community Connections (TCC) is an inclusive program for youth living with intellectual disabilities between the ages of 13 and 18. Program staff help support students to make friends, develop social and life skills and access the community. Support is offered up to three days per week after-school from September to June. The program also runs through the summer as a full day camp in July to August.
Our Impact
Your Gift Builds a More Inclusive Community. At Community Living Victoria, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a full, meaningful life—regardless of ability. Your donation directly supports children, youth, and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them thrive in inclusive environments where they are valued, respected, and empowered.
Here’s what your support makes possible:
- Personalized Support Services: Your contribution helps fund support for individuals to live independently, pursue employment, and participate in community life with dignity and autonomy.
- Family and Youth Programs: Donations sustain vital programs that provide families with respite, advocacy, and tools to navigate the challenges of caregiving—ensuring no one feels alone on their journey.
- Inclusive Housing and Community Engagement: Your generosity helps create safe, supportive housing and inclusive spaces where people with disabilities can build friendships, develop skills, and feel a true sense of belonging.
- Advocacy and Education: With your help, CLV continues to champion the rights of people with disabilities, promoting awareness, accessibility, and systemic change across Greater Victoria.
Every dollar you give is an investment in a more compassionate, inclusive society—one where everyone has the opportunity to shine.
Together, we are building a community where everyone belongs.
How your gift will be used
The entirety of our donations go directly to meeting the needs of individuals supported by Community Living Victoria. This means better access to job training, transportation, healthcare and wellness needs, community inclusion and family support. Donations allow us to transform the lives of people we support, promoting their full inclusion in our community and maximizing the possibilities available to them.
