About

Founded over 38 years ago, the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba exists so that all Manitobans affected by dementia receive the help they need today and have hope for the future.

As a province-wide organization, the Society seeks to achieve its mission through: community awareness; individual, family and professional education; programs and services for those affected by dementia; and research funding.

There are over 23,000 Manitobans living with dementia. The Society encourages everyone to become more dementia friendly by actively engaging with people with dementia and welcoming them into all aspects of community life.

Our Impact

“Learning about the disease was important and that’s where the Alzheimer Society came in… they changed everything. They will help you get through the next chapter – they’ve helped me.” – Linda Van Den Broek

“I am proud to support the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba so they can continue to provide the same support to others living with dementia along with their caregivers as they did with my family.” – Derek Blanchard

“Research for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias is significantly under-funded when compared to other diseases. Research investment is crucial to finding cures for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.” – Dr. Saskia Sivananthan, Chief Science Officer, Alzheimer Society of Canada

“One of the reasons why we were able to keep Mom living at home was the help we received from the Alzheimer Society, such as the Caregiver Support Groups. It was great being with people who understood.” – Sharyn Gusdal, Caregiver for Mother, Lavina Gusdal
