About
For more than 35 years, Egale Canada (Egale) has been working to improve the lives of Two Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, and intersex (2SLGBTQI) people in Canada. Today, we are the only national human rights charity that seeks to support 2SLGBTQI people by informing public policy, inspiring cultural change, and promoting equal rights and inclusion through research, education, awareness and legal advocacy. Our work helps create societies and systems that reflect the universal truth that all persons are equal, and none is other.
Our Impact
Including Egale in your estate will allow us to continue to make a REAL impact through Research, Education, Awareness and Legal Advocacy.
Egale conducts foundational Research on 2SLGBTQI issues that are typically neglected. Recent research topics can be seen in the images below. Our research is used by community groups, leaders and policymakers across Canada to improve and save the lives of 2SLGBTQI people.
We then mobilize this knowledge into Education and Awareness activities to build more inclusive spaces and change hearts and minds toward acceptance and love.
Our legal advocacy work helps ensure that 2SLGBTQI experiences are reflected in policy at all levels of government. We are proud to have intervened in the marriage equality case of 2005 and 13 subsequent supreme court cases with a 100% success rate.
