About

Greenpeace exists because this fragile earth deserves a voice. It needs solutions. It needs change. It needs action. It needs you. Greenpeace is a people-powered, science-based, and action-oriented organization that does not take money from corporations or governments. This means we rely on individual donations from generous people like you to carry out our work to protect the planet and promote peace.

Greenpeace is present in more than 55 countries across the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Pacific. Globally, we seek to:

  • Protect biodiversity in all its forms
  • Prevent pollution and abuse of the earth’s ocean, land, air and fresh water
  • End all nuclear threats
  • Promote peace, global disarmament, and non- violence

Greenpeace Canada works to advance environmental campaigns in Canada and around the globe, including our advocacy initiatives like the courageous actions our activists lead.

Greenpeace Canada Education Fund is separate from the campaigning arm of Greenpeace, the Greenpeace Canada Education Fund invests in scientific research, education, and other activities aimed at raising awareness of the environmental issues that affect people in Canada and around the world.

Our Impact

Greenpeace comprises 27 independent national/regional organizations in over 55 countries across Europe, the Americas, Africa, Asia and the Australia-Pacific region. We have campaigned on every continent and sailed the world over.

One of our greatest strengths is our ability to be on the frontline of virtually any fight for the planet – whether it is conducting scientific research to prevent oil companies from destroying ecosystems or providing support that powers a new generation of environmental activism.

Our teams of world-renowned scientists, grassroots organizers, policy experts, documentarians and strategists expose environmental problems and promote solutions through the use of groundbreaking research and investigations, incisive policy analysis, grassroots and community organizing, inspiring communications, direct action and wide-reaching media work.

We are a collaborative community, working in concert across national boundaries, time zones and geographic divides to develop bold, global solutions to the problems we face.

Leaving a gift in your Will to Greenpeace is a way to put your beliefs into action, long after your lifetime. Any gift, large or small, will help our shared work to create a more green and peaceful future. In fact, in Canada, gifts in Wills now pay for around 1 in 3 of our campaigns.
