About
The Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia champions and invests in mental health initiatives in Nova Scotian communities. We raise funds to provide hope and help to Nova Scotians who live with mental illness and addition, and their loved ones.
Our Mission is to make a difference in the lives of Nova Scotians by funding mental health and addiction initiatives.
Our Vision is to see Nova Scotians living with mental illness and addiction thriving in our communities.
The programs that the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia funds are as unique and diverse as the communities we live in. Serving all ages and life stages, these programs include initiatives that provide education, peer support, and community connection. From small, rural communities to larger centres, together, we are making a difference and changing the way people think.
Through our granting programs, we provide funding to community based programs in all parts of Nova Scotia. With the support of our donors, this means that we can be responsive to the ever changing needs of people in communities across the province.
Our Impact
In 2022-2023, the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia funded over 240 grants and initiatives in communities across Nova Scotia through our various granting programs. Recent statistics tell us that 1 in 4 people live with mental illness or addiction and that number is increasing. With the help of donors like you, we are able to grow mental health support to help Nova Scotians thrive.
One participant of a program funded through our Community Grants said:
“When I first started, I felt like I didn’t deserve help. Now that I see what it’s done for me, I feel very grateful for this service and how accessible it has been. It’s helped me grow emotionally and mentally – it helped me understand that what I’m feeling is okay. I see value in myself, which wasn’t the case when I started. I’m just very grateful for the accessibility of this program, as if it wasn’t funded, many people wouldn’t get the help that they need and deserve.”
