About
Philanthropic support has been a cornerstone of North York General Hospital (NYGH) since its opening more than 50 years ago. Community donations have helped fund crucial needs across the hospital from upgraded equipment to new technology to new care environments that have benefitted generations of patients and their families.
North York General Foundation (NYGF) is the charitable arm of the hospital, dedicated to cultivating, securing, managing and recognizing donor funds to ultimately support exceptional health care at NYGH, now and in the future.
Our Impact
NYGH cares for nearly half a million patients each year, in one of the most diverse and fastest growing communities in Canada.
- Our Charlotte & Lewis Steinberg Emergency is one of the busiest Emergency Departments in Canada with more than 107,000 visits annually;
- 4,700 babies are born at NYGH each year;
- Since 2020, adult mental health care has seen a 20 per cent increase through our Emergency Department;
- Since 2021, referrals to the RBC Child & Adolescent Mental Health Program at Phillips House have increased dramatically: by 50 per cent for eating disorders. Mental health programs across Ontario are experiencing the same increase in demand
Through generous donors, like you, and our incredible medical leaders and dedicated staff members, we’re shaping the future of care for North York and beyond. With an interdisciplinary team of professionals, we’re providing exceptional care for our diverse patient community of all ages, close to home, when they need it.
When you choose to support NYGH through a gift in your will, your legacy makes hope and recovery possible for patients and families of tomorrow. We share gratitude for your thoughtful consideration of a future commitment and extend Our Promise to you.
