About
The Ottawa Humane Society (OHS) is a compassionate haven for animals in the National Capital Region. Established in 1888, the OHS advocates for animal welfare and humane treatment through education, rescue, and community engagement. As a non-profit, the OHS provides shelter, medical care, and adoption services for Ottawa’s most vulnerable animals.
The OHS provides life-saving care and second chances to Ottawa’s homeless animals. Our facility offers comprehensive veterinary services, including spaying/neutering, vaccinations and emergency treatment. Our dedicated team works tirelessly to care for and rehome animals, giving them a second chance at happiness.
The OHS leads community education and outreach efforts, promoting responsible pet ownership, animal welfare, and spaying/neutering. Our programs reach thousands of adults and children annually, fostering empathy and respect for all living beings.
Our Impact
In 2023 alone, OHS found forever homes for over 3,000 animals and reunited hundreds of lost pets with their families.
Our veterinary team treated more than 2,000 animals and provided thousands of sterilizations, significantly reducing pet overpopulation.
OHS’s education and outreach programs reached over 11,000 community members, promoting responsible pet ownership and humane treatment of animals.
Supported by generous donations and dedicated volunteers, OHS continues to expand its reach and impact. Together, we are building a more compassionate community, where every animal is valued and loved. Visit ottawahumane.ca to learn more and get involved.
