About
Robert Land Academy (RLA) is a private, boarding school in Wellandport (Niagara Region, Ontario) for boys in Grades 5 through 12. The school provides a highly structured program, operated with a military model to support boys and young men to succeed who have experienced challenges or who have merely not responded to the traditional school system. The only non-university level military school in Canada, RLA provides an environment where students are encouraged to gain control of themselves and their future. The Academy is not funded by the government and tuition covers operating costs only. The school fundraises to address needs such as capital upgrades, new equipment and facilities, and scholarship funds. In the past years we have raised $100,000 to create an up-to-date science lab and $125,000 to build a rappel tower.
Our Impact
RLA’s mission is to develop the whole student by challenging and inspiring students to meet their academic, physical, and moral potential. The Academy has a dedicated, passionate teaching staff, and we also offer unique extracurricular opportunities and a values-based approach, emphasizing responsibility, accountability, and diligence. Robert Land Academy is a transformative experience for students. RLA’s unique program inherently sets high expectations for our students and provides the supports and experiences to help them meet and exceed those expectations.
An overwhelming majority of our students experience a dramatic improvement in their academic performance and success within the first semester of enrolment. Over the past 12 years 100% of graduates have been accepted into the post-secondary program of their choice, including top universities in Canada, the USA and overseas; colleges; and the trades.
“I had no prospects, ambitions or goals for my future. At the end of my two years here I was graduating with honours and an armful of awards and university acceptances.” RLA Grad 2021
“We finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. I believe this school has changed the direction of our son’s life in an immeasurably positive way.” RLA Parent 2022
