About
UNICEF is the world’s farthest-reaching humanitarian organization for children. With presence in over 190 countries and territories, we rise to the challenge to protect the rights of every child.
Depending entirely on voluntary contributions, UNICEF has worked tirelessly for more than 75 years in the world’s most complex situations, to bring life-saving aid and long-term support to children and their families. With the support of donors from across Canada, we are reaching the world’s children with healthcare and vaccines, education, nutrition, safe water and sanitation, and protection.
We are determined to create a better world for every child, and we won’t give up.
Our Impact
From conflicts and crises to climate change, children face more challenges that threaten their survival than ever before. But there is hope. With the support of generous donors UNICEF continues to deliver results for children around the world including:
- Vaccinating almost half of the world’s children under five every year;
- Procuring almost 80 percent of the world’s supply of ready-to-use therapeutic food, a nutrient- and protein-rich, life-saving product for children with severe acute malnutrition;
- Delivering life-saving supplies within 72 hours at the onset of an emergency from a network of supply hubs around the world.
UNICEF is there for children before, during and long after emergencies strike. Together, we are tackling the greatest challenges facing children today and tomorrow, helping them to survive and have a brighter future.
