About
Watoto brings hope and healing to vulnerable women and children in Uganda and South Sudan. We are a family made of people from all over the world who are working together to ensure that the forgotten have a place to belong.
In 1984, during a time of civil war, we planted a local church in Kampala, Uganda to speak hope and life. Since then, we’ve rescued orphaned and abandoned children, placing them in loving families. We’ve also come alongside vulnerable women, equipping and empowering them to be the mothers and leaders God has called them to be. Our Impact
- Over 5,000 children and mothers now have a loving family, a home, an education, food and medical care
- We’ve rescued over 1,600 babies
- More than 1,200 students have graduated from university and vocational school
- Watoto has equipped and empowered 6,650 Neighbourhood mothers with skills and supplies to start their own businesses and provide a bright future for their children
- We’ve partnered with 78 schools and thousands of girls have been kept in school through our Keep a Girl in School initiative. This program provides them with an education and a future filled with promise
- We are continuing to work towards self-sustainability by producing wholesome food for our mothers and children on our farms
