About
YWCA Canada is a leading voice for women, girls, Two-Spirit, and gender-diverse people.
For 150 years, YWCA has been at the forefront of a movement: to fight gender-based violence, build affordable housing, and advocate for workplace equity.
Our Impact
We work to deliver impact on two levels – nationally and locally – so you know your gift is both providing urgent supports and fighting to build a safer and more equitable future for us all.
Through community-guided advocacy focused on systems-level change, we work to deliver national solutions to the pressing challenges women, girls, and gender-diverse people face. YWCA Canada’s informed advocacy aims to: end gender-based violence, implement national childcare, achieve economic equality, and end homelessness for women and girls.
Locally, we know our communities have urgent needs that can’t wait for large-scale change and so, through our network of 31 local YWCAs who serve 300 communities across Canada we work to ensure women, girls, and gender diverse people can access the support they need in real-time. This includes supporting local YWCAs in providing:
- access to affordable housing.
- employment access training.
- counseling, emergency housing, and essential care for women and gender diverse people fleeing violence.
- supporting our youth and young girls to build the skills to grow as leaders in their communities.
