The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC)
15 million hectares protected
NCC and our partners have conserved more than 15 million hectares of Canada’s most important lands and waters—an area nearly four times the size of Nova Scotia.
1 of Canada’s last great native grasslands preserved
Thanks to donor support, the Old Man on His Back Prairie in Saskatchewan remains a sanctuary for species like swift fox, ferruginous hawk, pronghorn, and herds of plains bison.
256 species and habitats at risk supported
Legacy gifts are helping NCC keep critical habitats connected, like the Waterton Park Front in Alberta, ensuring grizzly bears and other wildlife have safe corridors to survive and thrive.
About
For nature. For now. Forever.
The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is the country’s leading national land conservation organization. Since 1962, together with individuals, corporations, foundations, Indigenous communities, and governments at all levels, we have helped conserve more than 15 million hectares of the lands and waters that sustain biodiversity—forests, wetlands, grasslands, and coasts from coast to coast to coast.
Life on Earth is changing. Climate change and biodiversity loss threaten the places and species we cherish. But there is hope. By protecting and restoring nature, we create a healthier, more resilient future for people and wildlife alike.
When you leave a gift in your Will to NCC, you are making a timeless investment in Canada’s natural legacy. Because when you invest in nature, forever really does mean forever. Your legacy will help ensure the places we protect today remain wild and thriving for generations to come.
Together, we can honour the past, protect the present, and build a future worth inheriting.
Our Impact
The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) takes a science-based approach, focusing on the natural areas where we can make the greatest impact for biodiversity and climate resilience. By conserving land in partnership with communities, Indigenous Nations, and governments, and through ongoing restoration, we are helping to protect species at risk.
World’s largest stretch of protected boreal forest — In partnership with the Tallcree Tribal Government and the Government of Alberta, we helped create Birch River Wildland Provincial Park, a refuge for 68 species of conservation concern
Prairie grasslands protected — Thanks to legacy gifts, the Old Man on His Back Prairie in Saskatchewan remains a sanctuary for swift fox, pronghorn, ferruginous hawk, and herds of plains bison—one of the last great native grasslands in Canada
Restoring critical wildlife habitat — In BC’s Rocky Mountain Trench, we are restoring hundreds of acres of grassland and open forest, improving conditions for species at risk
Protecting the north shore of Lake Superior — At Big Trout Bay, we secured shoreline and forests that provide habitat for native species
When you leave a gift in your Will to NCC, you ensure that the places we protect today remain wild and thriving—for generations to come
