About

ABLE2 is a charitable organization in Ottawa with programs and services that empower persons of all ages across the disability spectrum and their families to build lives of meaning and joy.

Established in 1974 as Citizen Advocacy Ottawa, the organization rebranded as ABLE2: Support for People with Disabilities in 2020 to better reflect its evolving mission and broader scope of work. In 2024, ABLE2 celebrated its 50th anniversary.

By including ABLE2 in your Will, you can ensure that people with disabilities in our community continue to receive the tools, choices and connections. Your gift will help nurture growth and development, facilitate independence, reduce barriers and vulnerability, and improve mental and physical health for persons living with disabilities in the Ottawa community.

Leave a legacy today, and share ABLE2’s vision of a more inclusive community where every person, regardless of ability, is seen as able, important, and valued.

Our Impact

ABLE2’s programs and services have been vital in ensuring that every person, regardless of ability, is seen as able, important, and valued and has opportunities to live a fulfilling life.

  • Matching Program: Reduces loneliness and isolation and improves overall health and well-being by matching volunteers one-on-one with individuals with disabilities.
  • Reach Legal Referral Services: Connects individuals facing legal challenges with volunteer lawyers, mediators and paralegals for free consultations, resources, and education, to assert their rights.
  • Housing Support Program: Works with individuals who want to gain independence and find safe and accessible housing in the community while helping them develop the skills they need to thrive independently.
  • Fetal Alcohol Resource Program: Provides tailored support, tools, resources, and advocacy for children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and their families.
  • Funding Brokerage: Helps individuals manage their government and social funding to gain financial capacity and independence.
