About
The Almonte General Hospital Foundation team works with our community to generate significant and dependable funds for the equipment, technology and training requirements of the Almonte General Hospital and the Fairview Manor.
Community-based health care began in Almonte with neighbours helping neighbours, and that tradition has continued for more than a century. The town’s first small hospital, the Victoria Hospital, was built in 1904. Five years later, the Rosamond Memorial Hospital was opened. Almonte General Hospital first opened its doors in 1961. Fairview Manor has been home to hundreds of residents since 1976.
In 2008, a major expansion of Almonte General Hospital was completed. The new Fairview Manor expanded to 112 beds from 100 and is connected to the Almonte General Hospital by a 15,000-square-foot link that houses a cafeteria and kitchen serving Fairview Manor and the Hospital. The link permits residents, staff, volunteers and visitors to move easily from Long-Term Care to the Hospital. We are now able to care for our residents in the most up-to-date, pleasant surroundings available – close to home!
In 2000, Almonte General Hospital was selected to operate the Lanark County Paramedic Service (LCPS) in partnership with the County of Lanark. LCPS is the sole provider of emergency medical response within the County of Lanark. Our paramedics are trained professionals who are highly skilled in all aspects of pre-hospital emergency medicine.
Our many on-site partners provide additional health and community services in one location. We are a true Health Hub! Our team takes pride in working together to create a world-class health experience for our patients and families.
Our Impact
The Almonte General Hospital and Fairview Manor may be located in a small town, but its impact is anything but small. With the continuous advances in healthcare, diagnosis and treatment, residents and neighbours are working collaboratively with the Almonte General Hospital Foundation to ensure exceptional health care is available – close to home!
For over 20 years now, the Almonte General Hospital Foundation has worked with our community to raise crucial funding to support exceptional patient and resident care. The Hospital and Manor rely 100% on the generosity of donors to fund priority clinical equipment identified by our senior staff and physicians. The Almonte General Hospital and Fairview Manor strive to maintain and enhance its equipment and update technology to meet the growing needs of our patients and to provide our doctors, nurses and staff with the best in standard of care equipment.
