About
Canadian Mental Health Association Vernon & District has been working to improve mental health in B.C.’s North Okanagan region since 1959.
CMHA Vernon offers services across the entire mental health spectrum including: affordable and supportive housing; prevention and early intervention based community education and youth programs; nutrition, recreation, education and peer support programs for those managing their mental wellness; and crisis support and suicide prevention.
As the nation-wide leader and champion for mental health, the Canadian Mental Health Association facilitates access to the resources people require to maintain and improve mental health and community integration, build resilience, and support recovery from mental illness.
Our Impact
At CMHA Vernon, we have built a community of support for individuals and their families living with mental health challenges. We help everyone in our community find the best type of care or service to match their need.
Out impact includes:
- Providing affordable housing to individuals and families at several locations.
- Providing more than 20,000 individuals annually with prevention and early intervention-based community education.
- Our Nutrition program provides over 8,000 meals annually to members of our community.
- Crisis Line responders are here for you 24/7
- Good Morning Program is a free telephone service for seniors living alone.
- Our recreation program allows a safe space for over 800 people with mental health challenges to feel a sense of belonging.
- Our Peer Support Program offers emotional and practical support and connection between people who share common experiences.
- CMHA Vernon’s Restorative Justice program advocates on behalf of individuals affected and/or involved in conflict.
- CMHA provides a range of services and programs for Vernon youth at the Youth Integrated Services Hub
