About
For over 60 years worldwide, L’Arche has been at the forefront in promoting social inclusion for individuals with intellectual disabilities. As one of the few national bilingual organizations dedicated to this cause, L’Arche Canada demonstrates that fostering inclusion and embracing the perspectives, leadership, and talents of people with disabilities enables them to contribute to creating fairer, more compassionate, and vibrant communities for all.
Our Impact
L’Arche Canada encompasses 30 dynamic communities spanning nine provinces from coast to coast. Within these communities, more than 900 individuals with intellectual disabilities actively participate in a diverse range of programs in various sectors, including visual and performing arts, crafts, music, supported employment, social enterprise initiatives, and recreational activities.
Our commitment to inclusivity extends to providing 150 homes and apartments that ensure accessibility for over 500 individuals with intellectual disabilities. Additionally, we prioritize ongoing learning and leadership development for both individuals with and without intellectual disabilities. Through collaborative advocacy efforts with national partners, we champion the inclusion of individuals with intellectual disabilities as valued citizens and leaders.
