About

Wings of Hope, 50 years of involvement in Peru

Incorporated in 1971, the organization first set up and maintained an air transport, missionary and humanitarian service in the Peruvian Amazon for some 40 years.

Since 2000, the majority of resources have been dedicated to funding clean water projects for remote and marginalized communities in Peru.

Our partner in the field is the association Alas de Esperanza Perú whose members are all Peruvians.

Our Impact

Water is life!

The success and longevity of the water systems we install are based on the following three commitments from the communities that seek our support :

. provide all so-called unskilled labor

. to form a drinking water committee composed of at least 50% women

. to participate in meetings explaining the project, the proper use of water, the maintenance of the system and hygiene standards.

In fact, it is the community that carries out its own project with the support of Wings of Hope. This gives dignity and pride to the poor. The communities unite and value their work. People become aware of their strengths and abilities.

Access to water is the most effective way to fight against extreme poverty and the starting point of any sustainable development!

How your gift will be used

Your donations are used to dig wells or build water catchment structures (in the Andes), reservoirs, install solar-powered pumping systems, distribution networks that bring water to every house in the village, and finally to build a cement sink for each family.

Wings of Hope finances the purchase of materials, the technical direction (engineer), the specialized workers and the social worker who accompanies the community throughout the project. Each community provides the so-called unskilled labor.

In the villages where the quantity of water allows it, we install sprinkler irrigation systems in order to improve the food supply of the families.

The Montreal office has two employees and since 2000 we have kept our administration and fundraising costs below 10%.
