About

London Symphonia

Introduction…

London Symphonia is the classical music orchestra for London, Ontario. Incorporated in 2015, it carries on a tradition that began in the city in 1937. London Symphonia is the only ensemble offering a full season of orchestral music in the City of London. The orchestra presents well-known symphonies, Canadian premières, and collaborates with many of Canada’s finest singer-songwriters. The musicians of London Symphonia also  perform free concerts for seniors and students at various locations such as Museum London or H.B. Beal Secondary School

What we do best…

The orchestra delivers a rich classical music experience to the London, Ontario community by featuring accomplished artists, professional musicians and guest conductors. They represent a blend of local, national and internationally recognized talent. Seasonal guests include many established and emerging artists such as Bramwell Tovey, Sarah Slean, Janina Fialkowska, Scott St. John, Danny Michel, and the Amabile Choirs. Composer-In-Residence Scott Good brings a fresh perspective on Canadian compositions.

We are successful because…

As a registered incorporated charitable organization, London Symphonia is uniquely positioned for continued success. Because of the commitment of its musicians, staff and volunteers, plus the goodwill of collaborators and sustained government support. The additional revenue generated from ticket sales, private donations, and corporate sponsorship helps to contribute to the organization’s ongoing financial stability.

Our Impact

We perform in person and online…

London Symphonia has performed for thousands of patrons. Either in person at Metropolitan United or internationally via our online livestream programing. The musicians are equally at home performing in large venues, such as Budweiser Gardens, for audiences of over 2,000 patrons.

Community outreach and education…

London Symphonia’s music education outreach is designed to build future audiences. It includes speaking engagements introducing musical instruments and performing in schools and seniors’ residences. The online Digital Education series we developed is now deployed within the Thames Valley District School Board at no cost to teachers. It is accessible by teachers and their 55,000 primary students. The orchestra is also continually reaching out to develop strong partnerships with other arts and non-arts organizations in the city of London and the surrounding region.
