YMCA of Northern Alberta Foundation
About
The YMCA of Northern Alberta Foundation was created to ensure there is stable, sustainable funding for community programming and supports provided to our communities by the YMCA of Northern Alberta.
YMCA of Northern Alberta has grown a lot since 1907. With your help, we can continue offering YMCA Child Care, child and youth recreation programs, youth and family support, employment, immigrant and housing services in northern and central Alberta.
Our Mission: The YMCA of Northern Alberta creates life-enhancing opportunities for the growth and development of all people in spirit, mind and body.
Our Vision: Strong kids, healthy families, thriving communities.
Our Values: Respect, honesty, caring, responsibility, diversity, and social inclusion.
At our Health, Fitness and Aquatics & community centres, we serve more than 12,500 community members and counting. Our facilities are hubs for connection, where all people come together to find belonging and well-being. The YMCA never denies anyone due to an inability to pay.
Our community and housing initiatives offer employment support, youth guidance, leadership and restorative justice, parenting and caregiver care, newcomer settlement, mental health support, and housing programs to those who need it most.
YMCA of Northern Alberta is the largest provider of not-for-profit child care in western Canada, serving approximately 2,500 children across 60 childcare centres. The care and development of our littlest citizens is of utmost importance to the future of our communities. We actively advocate for universally affordable, accessible, high-quality child care.
Our Impact
The impact of supporting the YMCA of Northern Alberta is significant and far-reaching. Here’s how your support directly benefits the community:
How your gift will be used
All donations to the Foundation are endowed. Endowment funds are thoughtfully invested and managed into perpetuity, with a portion of the annual interest generated disbursed to support YMCA initiatives and programs. These funds provide the Y with a steady, reliable source of annual funding that supports the Y’s ability to plan, innovate, and meet the ongoing (and often changing) needs of our communities. The balance of the endowment fund’s income is reinvested to protect the endowment fund against inflation.
When you choose to leave a legacy gift to the YMCA of Northern Alberta Foundation, you’re making a lasting impact on the community for generations to come.
Thank you for considering the Y in your estate planning and for your commitment to creating a positive impact in the community.
