The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation (The PMCF) is Canada’s largest and leading cancer charity. We’re dedicated to raising funds for Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, one of the world’s leading cancer research and treatment centres and the only hospital in Canada that is singularly dedicated to cancer.

Our world-renowned team of doctors, researchers and scientists is continuously making groundbreaking discoveries that are changing the way cancer is researched, diagnosed, and treated across Canada and around the world.

This puts The Princess Margaret in a unique position to transform cancer outcomes in a quest we’re calling “Carry The Fire”. Together, we are lighting new paths forward and, through the support of generous philanthropy, focusing our efforts on three key areas:

Early Detection
We’re developing new diagnostic approaches so cancer can be detected as early as possible, resulting in better health outcomes for cancer patients and potentially eliminating the need for invasive treatments altogether.
Innovative Treatments
We’re pioneering new cancer treatments that are both gentler and more effective with the potential to replace traditional chemotherapy, thereby easing the physical, as well as the mental and emotional, challenges associated with cancer care.
Comprehensive Support
The Princess Margaret is committed to improving the cancer experience by developing new compassionate models of care in one of the most research-intensive ecosystems anywhere, benefiting patients, survivors, their loved ones, and caregivers everywhere.

Our Impact

For over 70 years, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre has been a world leader in cancer diagnostics, research, and treatment. The trailblazing work of our intrepid doctors and scientists continues to result in breakthrough cancer treatments, global knowledge-sharing, and transformative patient care.

Clinical Care

We treat over 200 types of cancer, including some of the rarest and most aggressive forms. Some of our doctors see more rare cancers in a day than most doctors see in a year.
20% of our patients are in clinical trials, undergoing groundbreaking new treatments and therapies. We have the largest clinical trials program in Canada, and we incorporate state-of-the-art clinical care, while evaluating the most recent developments in cancer medicine.

Global Reach

We treat almost 20,000 new patients each year, including patients who travel to Toronto from all over the world seeking treatment.
We partner with 500 leading cancer institutes in 107 countries. As one of the largest hubs of cancer knowledge and talent in the world, we’re training the next generation of global cancer leaders.

Breakthrough Discoveries

A new blood test that can detect and classify cancer at early stages, when treatment is more likely to be successful.
