The Aberdeen Health Foundation amplifies generosity to advance health care in Pictou County.

We invest to expand access to care by removing barriers and growing essential services.

We are the leading charity for health care supporting Aberdeen Hospital, the regional acute care facility serving communities in Pictou County and Northern Nova Scotia. The hospital provides a broad range of primary and secondary health care services through inpatient, outpatient, and community-based services and programs.

At the same time, we understand that true health goes beyond medical treatment. That’s why Aberdeen Health Foundation is also investing in initiatives that tackle the root causes of illness, from chronic disease prevention to mental health interventions.

We are dedicated to working collaboratively to create a Pictou County where every person has the opportunity to attain their best health.

Our Impact

Through strategic investments and partnerships, Aberdeen Health Foundation is bringing groundbreaking solutions to Pictou County.

In 2024 alone, we invested $2.7 million to support core medical services, train health professionals, expand access, and promote health and wellness. Our investments are helping recruit the next generation of care providers and fund initiatives that break down barriers to care.

We introduced MOLLI Breast Seed technology with a $100,000 investment at Aberdeen Hospital. This pilot transformed breast cancer care province-wide.
We contributed $1.2 million to expand renal dialysis access, in partnership with Nova Scotia Health and Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital Foundation.
We helped bring FORBOW – an internationally recognized early intervention and mental health prevention program – to Pictou County.
We partnered with the regional library to launch Virtual Care @ Your Library, improving access to virtual health appointments with trained, confidential support.
We supported the development of the Pictou County Community Health Centre, delivering community-led, prevention-focused care.
We committed $220,000 to a new palliative Program Navigator pilot, connecting families with care and community resources.
