About
We’re the little library that does BIG things for little kids! For more than 90 years our generous supporters have ensured free access to books, educational programs, and fun yet instructive activities to children living in areas of the city where few municipal library services exist.
Our mission is to empower children to learn and grow through creativity, socialization, education, and by connecting them to their communities, while equipping them with the tools they need to be lifelong learners.
We are currently located in the linguistically and culturally diverse neighborhood of Saint-Michel, where 50% of the population are immigrants and many children live in poverty. Staffed by dedicated and skilled librarians, we’re a safe place to come after school, the entry to another world where learning is fun and creativity abounds, and a community centre exposing languages and cultures to new Canadians.
Our Impact
The children we serve have few of the advantages of those in more affluent neighbourhoods and count on us to help level the playing field for their education. Without us, many would never be exposed to the types of extracurricular activities that make for a well-rounded child – coding workshops, chess club, science experiments, and more.
We believe that every child should have the opportunity to dream big, let their imagination run wild, and discover themselves and the world through the magic of books.
