About
In 1943, the community came together to establish a hospital to meet urgent medical needs and save lives after the tragic death of a child on Southampton beach. Through Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, the community has been a vital hospital partner ever since.
The recent completion of an ER and Lab expansion has helped our dedicated staff and physicians cope with increased demand for care, but there’s more to be done.
By 2041, the population of Saugeen Shores will grow to an estimated 22,000 people. We are experiencing an influx of young families, but our senior population is also on the rise. A large percentage of the population will soon be 65+ requiring enhanced healthcare.
From our first breath to our last – and every one in between – 150 staff and physicians at Southampton hospital are here for us, when we need them. You can be there for them too! Please donate to equip them with the best tools to provide state-of-the-art care.
Southampton is one of six Grey Bruce Health Services (GBHS) hospitals delivering excellent patient care to residents and visitors across Grey and Bruce counties.

To patients, your gift means faster, more accurate diagnosis, less invasive procedures, increased safety, less pain and quicker recovery. Best of all – a faster return home and to regular activities.
How your gift will be used
We don’t know what our funding priorities will be when we receive your will gift in the future, but you can trust that patient care always comes first. The gift you plan now will ensure the Foundation has the financial resources to respond to any need the hospital may have.
Your Legacy Gift Will:
- Provide stable funding to meet the needs of patients for the long term.
- Help purchase life-saving medical equipment.
- Enable our physicians, nurses and technical staff to provide the best care possible with state of the art diagnostic and medical equipment.
- Help attract the medical professionals we so desperately need.
