For over a century, Royal Jubilee Hospital (RJH) and Victoria General Hospital (VGH) have been a beacon of hope and healing, where skilled medical professionals dedicate themselves to the well-being of others. The Victoria Hospitals Foundation (VHF) has a long history working hand in hand with our community, turning generosity into life-changing support for our referral hospitals.
The Victoria Hospitals Foundation is a leading philanthropic organization on Vancouver Island that champions giving through prudent stewardship to advance and elevate care at Royal Jubilee and Victoria General hospitals. As a charitable partner of Island Health, we raise funds to invest in priority and best-in-class medical equipment, caregiver education, research, and special projects.
Since 1989, donors have raised over $233 million to fund strategic priorities, invest in innovative technology to equip our hospitals with the latest advancements and research developments- all of which strengthen both our healthcare facilities and our community.
Our donor community funds 40% of the equipment used in these hospitals, bringing world-class healthcare to the island, and enabling specific treatments that would likely not be available otherwise. The generosity of our donors means our communities have access to the care they need without having to travel elsewhere to get it. Our donors understand how important it is to support local healthcare for the greater good, advancing it beyond just the standard of care.

Our Impact
VHF donors fund 40% of the equipment in our hospitals.Â

Through donor support, our Foundation funds:
- Hospital equipment, which contributes to faster diagnosis and more efficient treatment in all 11 areas of care at Royal Jubilee and Victoria General hospitals.
- Special projects that help advance the level of care our hospitals and care teams provide.
- Education and research to keep our hospitals and caregivers at the forefront of leading-edge care.
From purchasing state-of-the-art equipment, to funding groundbreaking research and innovation, to enhancing labs and operating rooms, to attracting some of Canada’s top medical talent, your thoughtful giving keeps our hospitals at the forefront of excellence.
Recent successes:
- Imaging is Power, raised $11 million to support six vital pieces of imaging equipment, including two “first-in Canada” MRI refurbishments, a ct scanner, a spect/ct scanner and a cath lab c-arm
- Emerge Stronger, a $10 million campaign launched as a response to COVID-19, supported the purchase of over 200 new pieces of equipment in every area of care, including research and education
- It’s Critical, raised $7 million to increase critical care capacity at Royal Jubilee Hospital
